do I protect myself?
What is it? Web spoofing is one
of the latest scams circulating on the Internet. Web spoofing
happens when a scammer creates a copy of a web site on the Internet.
This copy looks the same as the real one, but it's used to confuse and
mislead the real web's visitors by redirecting them to the copy without
their knowledge. How does it work?
The scammer controls the false website and uses it to gain access to the
following information: User identification logons, user passwords,
personal information, and Internet usage habits. How
do I protect myself?

Scan your PC regularly to detect and remove spyware.
-
Update your
PC's operating system and web browser software regularly.
-
Look to ensure "https://" appears in the website
address and that the security padlock icon appears on the website that is
requesting personal information.
-
Verify the certificate of the website by clicking on
the padlock icon to make sure that the certificate is valid and current.
-
Learn about Internet fraud scams and prevention techniques.
-
Regularly request and validate the accuracy of credit
reports.
