(Mason City, Iowa)- First Citizens National Bank is
pleased to announce they have become a partner in the national Go
Direct campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and
the Federal Reserve Bank.
Becoming a Go Direct partner means First Citizens National Bank will
actively encourage customers who receive Social Security benefits to
enroll in the direct deposit program.
“Direct deposit of Social Security benefits is much safer than cashing
a paper check,” said Joleen Fleming, Vice President of Retail Banking.
“You are better protected against fraud and identity theft, and the
money is there when you need it. Enrollment is free and only takes a
few minutes.”
With direct deposit, Social Security or SSI payments go directly into
the checking or savings account of the customer’s choice. The money is
there on payment day as soon as the bank opens.
There are three ways to enroll in the direct deposit of Social Security
and SSI payments: 1. By phone. Customers can call the Go Direct
toll-free helpline at (800) 333-1795; 2. Online. Customers can go to
www.GoDirect.org to sign up online or to get more information about the
program; and 3. In person. Customers can visit their bank and sign up,
as long as their financial institution is enrolled as a partner.
