If your debit card or ATM transaction causes your checking account to overdraw, federal regulations require us to decline the transaction unless you’ve given us permission to cover the overdraft and charge a fee for that service. If you do want those types of transactions covered, you can give us permission by simply opting-in!*
There are four ways to opt-in:
- 1. Stop in to any First Citizens location and see a Personal Banker to opt-in
- 2. Call the First Citizens location nearest you and ask to speak with a Personal Banker to opt-in
- 3. Click here, complete the form on page 2, and mail it to:
First Citizens Bank, 2601 4th St SW, Mason City, IA 50401
- 4. Email a Personal Banker and tell them you’d like to opt-in

We have additional options available to help with overdrafts such as Automatic Transfers or a Reserve Line of Credit. Contact a Personal Banker for further details.
*We will charge $30 for each overdraft advance, created by check, draft, in-person withdrawal, ACH, or other pre-authorized transfer. (Debit card and ATM transactions will be added for those who opt-in.) Total overdraft fees are limited to $150 per day (consumer accounts). Your checking account must have a positive balance within 35 days of your overdraft notice. Payment of your overdrafts is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, you are not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts. Does not apply to business accounts or health savings accounts (HSAs).
